sustaintable fashion

why does it matter?

Since the industrial revolution, the textile and the fashion industry have taken an accelerated path. Every year around 80 thousand million garments are produced world wide, 400% more that what we used to produce 20 years ago. The upscaling of fashion for the mass market has brought cheap prices and accesbility for a wider audience, but at what cost?

problems of a linear economy

The lineal economy model that has ruled the industries for at least 20 years has permited us an overconsumption of products at low prices. But  ¿which are the real repercusions behind this accelerated industry?

In the last decade, the main goal of enterprises has been the financial growth. This without considering meassuring the real impacts caused by this growth

We have to consider that low cost garmets are possbile due to a cost reduction in their manufacturing process. This means there is always someone paying the real cost of clothes with unethical practices, poor quality, among others actions that had to be done to be able to offer those cheap prices.

The fast fashion model creates around 52 low cost collections instear of the usual 2 to 4 that the fashion industry normally do. This creates huge social and environmental conscecuences.

There are many issues along the chain of value, one of them is the manufacutring process where  unethical and unfair practices take place exploiting human and natural resources to offer cheap and fast products for an accelerated demand

We enlisted some of the activities that permit a low cost sistem:

  • Low quality and non durable materials
  • Cheap Labour. That in manu cases involve unethical and unsafe practices, low life quality for the workers and child labour.
  • Use of toxic substances during the finishing process of fabrics and garments, as well as quimical waste that pollutes water.
  • Bad practices during the care and post consumption of the garments.
  • Among other

Join the change!

Trends and today´s culture promotes the overconsumption.

We can find data that estimates a garmen is used 7 times before being  discarted, a clear example of this are the 35 kg of textile waste that are created per person every year world wide.

Nowadays we are facing a critical global situation that invites us to act fast and join the change.

We need to understar that everything is connected, so we can act from our rol as a consumer, entrepreneur, business, manufacturer, or goverment to implement the needed meassurements to  change into a more responsible versión of ourselves.

If we are part of the problem, we have the enormous opportunity to be part of the solution.
